Understanding the importance of an about me page for health wellness professionals
Research shows that your ‘about me’ page is one of the most visited pages on your website. It’s often a key part of the decision-making process as potential customers decide whether to buy from you.
If you’re a health and wellness professional, an authoritative about me page is vital not only for prospective clients but also for search visibility. It’s not just clients judging your credibility, experience and capability, authority, expertise and trustworthiness; if search engines like Google don’t see the right trust markers, your site won’t even appear in searches.
If you want to know exactly how Google judges your authority, check out my blog post on the Google EEAT algorithm. But if you follow the tips and advice I offer here, you’ll be off to a great start.
What to include in an about me page
As a trusted professional, your About page should include information that positions you as a credible expert. It’s a key part of your website SEO as a health and wellness professional. Put yourself in your prospective client/customers’ shoes. It’s hard to know who to trust online, so share the things that demonstrate credibility. With Google’s EEAT (Expertise, Experience, Authority & Trust) algorithm, it’s more important than ever to pay attention to this. Include information like:
- Qualifications
- Professional body memberships, affiliations and accreditations
- Links to professional listings
- Work/ experience timeline
- People/companies you have worked with
- Testimonials & reviews
- Articles/ guest blogs /podcasts where you have been featured
- Link to your social media platforms

Tips for writing an About Me page
- Keep it relevant—My top tip for writing an about me page is to keep it relevant to your business and audience. Share only the information that is relevant to your expertise and services and adds value or context to the customer experience.
- Keep cutesy content to a minimum—this or that content, favourite films/food/drink, etc., should only be included if it’s relevant, brand-building, or genuinely insightful for your audience. This kind of content (as well as your human design, myers-briggs type etc.) is best kept for social media.
- Use professional photography—a trusted professional uses professional photography. Use a photo that represents who you are in business and include at least one shot of you looking straight at camera (eye contact builds trust and connection), and try to include action or lifestyle shots of you at work, with clients or your team.
- Write in the first person—keep to I, me, and my if you’re a solopreneur or a personal brand. Steer away from writing in the third person until you reach “Oprah” level and have a team creating your content.
- Make a connection—When people visit your About page, they are searching for a connection. They want to know that you are going to be a good fit, that you’re like them, and that you’ll understand them. They’re trying to find their tribe.
Your audience is thinking:
- Is she trustworthy?
- Do we share any common experiences?
- Is she credible?
- Do I like her? / Are we similar?
- Does she understand my problem? And can she help me solve it or achieve my goals.
The more likeable, personable, and believable you are, the more likely it is that people will feel comfortable buying from you and becoming lifetime customers.
“People want to know that you understand them and their struggles.”.

Other things to Include on your About Me page
Your Vision and Mission
Your about page is a great place to share your vision, mission, and unique approach to what you do. Do you have a specific method or process that you work with? Here’s the place to explain it.
This is a great place to share a brand video or a meet-the-team video.
Community involvement
If you have any community involvement or charity affiliations, your about page is a great place to talk about them. For instance, my client Emma Holly of Restore Scar Therapy has a pledge to offer 5000 free scar therapy appointments alongside training more scar therapists.
Your story
Your story builds trust, credibility and understanding. Talk about why or how you started your business and what drove you. What challenges did you overcome, or what motivates you?
- Share a story that explains why you understand your customers.
- Share an “I get it story” or it happened to me.
- Share a story about a pivotal moment in your life – the one where you just knew that you had to do this as a career.
My Client Dr Ann Seide of Seide Integrative Health shares her background as a Veteran Navy Medic and hospitalist as a backdrop to her journey into integrative medicine.
People connect through shared experiences and shared emotions. The more you can demonstrate these through your story, the stronger the connection you will build
Include a Call to Action on your About Me page
If you’ve done a good job, your customers will be fully on board and ready to work with you. Make sure you include a clear call to action and make it easy to work with you by signposting the next steps.
- schedule a discovery call
- view my services
- work with me
- view our products
Remember that not everyone who visits your website will be ready to work with you immediately, so have secondary calls to action that encourage them to connect and keep in touch.
Secondary calls to action can include:
- download my freebie
- download my services guide
- See upcoming events
- follow me on social media
- sign up for news and updates
- watch my TED talk
- Subscribe to my Podcast
- Watch my most popular YouTube videos
- Watch my interview with [insert interviewer]
Use clear calls to action, make links bold and underlined and use buttons with clear text like – schedule a call or download my service guide.
Repurpose your About Page
When you create great content, don’t miss the opportunity to share it in as many places as possible.
- Link to your about page from your author bio on your blog posts.
- Chop up the information and share it in social posts.
- Record an ‘about me’ video and add it to your YouTube channel (then embed it back on your About me page).
- Repurpose the content into Reels or videos to share on IGTV and your Facebook page.
- Update your Linkedin business page with content from your about me page.
- Use it in presentations, speaker bios, workbooks, proposals etc.
- Train AI using your About Me page to understand your business better.
