A calming, feminine brand identity for a remedial massage therapist & scar work practitioner
“A massage brand to stand out from the crowd”. Janet from Rebalance Massage approached me to uplevel her brand and create a website where clients could book direct.
Rebalance is a London-based massage therapist and scar work specialist working exclusively with women. Janet works in Knightsbridge, Chelsea, and Marleybone, providing mobile massage therapy for C-suite execs living the jet-set London life.
With the proliferation of Urban Massage across London, Janet wanted to establish herself as a recognisable brand, offering a high-quality service every time. Explore this organic-luxe feminine brand glow-up below…
Brand Strategy: Rebalance Massage
Rebalance massage offers tailored therapeutic and remedial massage that works with your body, mind, and spirit to restore and rebalance and leave you feeling uplifted.
Janet’s ethos is that massage doesn’t have to hurt to heal; she offers remedial massage that works with your body rather than against it.
The brand needed to feel calm and warm to reflect the core value of Care. The brand needed to feel elevated without appearing pretentious. Understated without feeling weak.
I encouraged Janet to update her packages to allow more time to include add-ons like hot stone massage and head massage. We repositioned her packages offering an express 60-minute session, a 90-minute full treatment and an indulgent 2-hour package.
Design Inspiration: Rebalance Massage
The design inspiration for Rebalance came from luxury skincare brands and luxury spas. However, we opted for an organic and minimal approach.
We wanted to avoid girly pinks and generic corporate branding and create a massage brand that feels elevated, distinct and timeless.
The terracottas and pistachio green of the colour palette offer a nod to Janet’s Italian roots, whilst the curved lines, dark forest green and leafy shadows bring in the natural world without feeling too obvious.
We kept the typography feminine and classic.
Brand Design: Rebalance Massage
Janet initially wanted to keep her old logo, but the futuristic typeface felt out of place with the newly elevated brand. I kept elements of it but upgraded the typeface for a softer, more organic feeling and mirrored the slope of the As to signify balance. We added an illustrative element to an alternative logo that signifies the spine – this element was repeated across the brand stamp, favicon and even in the bespoke icons.
I crafted a suite of logos that would work across different media and platforms, including a pared-back brand mark designed to be used in smaller settings.
These gorgeous suede wallets were embossed with the main logo. They form part of a set of 6 or 12 massages that you can gift to a loved one. They also come with a beautifully wrapped, hand-made organic soap that Janet makes herself.
The attention to detail is exquisite.
The massage care cards are designed to be left with clients at the end of their treatment. They feature bespoke iconography to remind clients to move, hydrate and nourish themselves.
These handy little cards are also a nice reminder for clients to book their next massage.
Janet also opted for a set of Instagram templates, this flexible carousel template could be used to highlight different services, common ailments or even case studies – the call to action block at the end reminds clients to book.
Website Design: Rebalance Massage
The web project included a full design and development in WordPress. I sourced photography to match the brand and provided content prompts to ensure the page content was optimised for search.
Clients can now book directly through the Rebalance website, and there’s a blog feature so that Janet can share updates for the business – like her new Reflexology treatments and details of her organic soaps and low-tox living tips.
