Louisa is a family friend so when she said she was launching her own dog grooming studio we were always going to work together.
I absolutely loved working with Louisa on the brand strategy, which formed the basis for everything we did including a wholesale name change and highlighting her therapeutic approach as an integral part of her brand.
My goal going into this project was to create something that felt warm and friendly but with an artisan, hand crafted feel. The brand should evoke feelings of woodland walks and quiet calm. I wanted to create something that would feel aligned to Louisa, its founder and that would speak to her ideal clients.
It was important to evoke the sense of a boutique brand.
Forest tails is a boutique dog grooming studio hidden away in our wooden cabin on the edge of the New Forest. It’s a place of peace and tranquility where even the most timid of four-legged friends can come and feel at home.
We take a therapeutic approach to grooming, giving our dogs time and space to feel comfortable. We are mindful of the sensory triggers that can make normal grooming experiences stressful, finding the best approach for your dog, even if that means taking a little bit more time. What we do goes far beyond a haircut – we believe correct grooming can enhance your cherished pup’s life in miriad ways.
Brand Colour Palette
This soft palette is inspired by the expanse of heather-covered heathlands and the coniferous forest spaces of the New Forest. The calming lavender and greens mirror the physical studio, which is set in woodlands on the outskirts of the New Forest in Hampshire.
Louisa’s vision is to create a sensory garden full of calming herbs around her grooming studio so that the dogs can find a relaxing space to enjoy during their visits.
Branding for Instagram and Facebook
Brand consistency is essential if you’re building a strong, cohesive brand so we created editable canva templates that Louisa can use on both Facebook and Instagram.
We used the brand pillars to define the type of content that Louisa could share to support her vision, these include tips on home grooming, dog health and safety advice.
Because the colour palette was built around the heathland colours of the New Forest, the templates work perfectly with the photos Louisa shares of her dog Charlie from their daily walks.
Logo for Dog Groomer
The logo includes a hand sketched brand mark taken from a photo of Louisa’s dog Charlie (Charlie Larlie to his friends). Charlie’s distinct curly tail mirrors the unfurling curls of the ferns found in the New Forest, which is intertwined with the identity of Forest Tails.

The logo mark appears in the illustrated elements that are included on the instagram highlights, website icon and brand pattern.
